OCEANSIDE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
Architectural/Facilities & Maintenance Committee: The purpose of the Committee is to maintain community standards, approved by the Board, for maintaining and repairing the homes and infrastructure throughout Oceana. Seven resident members meet once a month to assist other residents in processing the paper work required for making additions or changes to the exteriors of Oceana homes. The committee is an information source for dealing with City Building regulations and assisting residents in acquiring building permits. We address problems assigned by the Board, such as inspections, special situations and emergencies. Requirements: Common sense, a love of our community, and about three hours of available time each month. We will train interested residents and provide educational reference material.

Archives Committee: The Archives Committee (a standing committee of the board) categorizes, maintains, protects and preserves the historical records of the Oceanside Community Association and Oceana Golf Club Inc., in compliance with the Davis-Stirling Act of the California Civil Code. Each year in February, this Committee effects the transfer of all Board and financial records, and any relevant printed materials that are three (3) years old, from the Administration Office to the Archives for processing. Note: The Administration Office maintains all records and materials mentioned above for the current fiscal year and for the two (2) previous fiscal years.

Activities Committee: The Clubhouse Activities Committee sponsors year-round activities in the Clubhouse complex, including the Thursday morning coffee hour, monthly dances and movies, and holiday parties. It is also the umbrella organization for the many Oceana clubs, hobby groups and exercise groups. In addition, it oversees the Share & Wear boutique, whose proceeds benefit numerous events for residents. We welcome volunteers to help us out during any event (set-up, food server, clean-up), and to work at Share and Wear. We also welcome new ideas for health-related and social activities.

Finance Committee: The Finance Committee meets monthly to review the financial records of the Association for accounting accuracy and sound financial practices, and to make recommendations concerning Association funds. The Annual Budget and the Reserve Study are used extensively in the process of maintaining the prudent use of financial assets. The committee serves as a financial reference for the Community Manager and the Board of Directors in all matters relating to Association finances while adhering to prudent fiduciary practices and safety of funds. Residents are encouraged to attend meetings if they so desire. Chair: Fran Margolese at 1-760-439-6028 or fmargolese@cox.net

Landscape Committee: The Landscape Committee meets monthly and assists and advises the OCA Board of Directors and Community Manager in all aspects of landscaping responsibilities throughout the entire community, including all landscaping services such as planting, maintenance, and necessary replacement of trees, grass, plants, bushes and shrubs on all common areas surrounding association buildings and private home, including the slopes, rockscape and xeriscape. The committee completes regular, scheduled walk-throughs of the community, and maintains contact with Unit Advisors to determine needs within their areas of responsibility. Through a designated contact, they ensure that all work established in the landscape contract is completed, and they review landscape work orders that are not covered under the landscape contract.

OCA-TV Committee: OCA-TV is an Association cable TV channel under the direct supervision of the Board of Directors and is broadcasting over Channels 12 or 867. The OCA-TV Committee meets monthly, and is open to the entire membership. The Committee reviews proposed slides and video, evaluates new technologies applicable to its purpose, and makes recommendations to the BOD. There are many volunteer opportunities at OCA-TV: Monitors do the daily updates and maintenance of the slide show; PowerPoint supporters create new slides as needed. Technical experts advise on updating equipment and software and do computer maintenance; Scheduling experts schedule the various shows; Videographers tape BOD meetings and special events; Video editors create new videos or edit programs; Photographers take pictures of Oceana activities for posting in slides. Secretarial Committee We meet as needed to prepare mailings to Oceana homeowners and/or residents. We fold letters, stuff envelopes, affix postage, eat cookies and generally have a good time. Most mailings only take about two hours, usually from about 9:00 to 11:00 am, in the Admin office. There are three mandatory mailings each year (budget, election and insurance) and occasional others to keep us all informed about important community information and any rule changes. We average about five mailings a year.
Oceana Welcome Committee: The Oceana Welcome Committee holds "Get Acquainted" reception on a regular basis in order to familiarize newcomers with the many opportunities available for enjoying our beautiful community. We also encourage voluntary leadership through service on any of Oceana's many committees.
Please contact the Chair for the date of the next reception. Chair: Geri Gustaffson at 1-760-754-2911
Unit Advisors Committee: Unit advisors assist residents in making their concerns known to the Board of Directors (BOD) and the Community Manager, assist with BOD surveys, and deliver the monthly Hilltop Highlights and other printed materials. They monitor the general appearance and condition of their unit, and participate in scheduled walk-throughs of their unit. They also advise the Community Manager of the number of sale or rental homes, and the names of new residents and owners. The Committee meets monthly.

Website Committee: The Website Committee meets quarterly and maintains and updates information about Oceana on its official website www.oceanaseniors.org. The website is an important vehicle for communicating with our residents, and also presents Oceana’s face to the outside world, inasmuch as it can be accessed by the public via the Internet, including both potential and offsite owners. The website provides an overview of Oceana’s organization, physical layout, current news, and social activities, as well as useful links to the City of Oceanside and San Diego area agencies. A very popular feature is the photo gallery, where users can view and purchase pictures taken at Oceana’s many social events. If you have ideas for enhancing the website, we welcome your input and involvement. Chair: Tom Fones at 1-760-433-5631 or tfones@cox.net
